The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) was opened in 1980, palace of different UN-institutions, that´s why it is called "UNO City" by the Viennese. This is the third United Nations Headquarters after New York and Geneva.
It has representation and connection functions with different missions to the United Nations - Vienna, the host Government and intergovernmental and non-governmental institutions in Vienna.
The Vienna International Centre hosts a large number of international conferences and expert meetings each year. More than 4,000 employees from more than 100 countries work at the UN-offices in Vienna to organise and support the organisation.
